INTERIORS - Furniture in Wonderland

With the return of Alice in Wonderland coming up (Tim Burton style) I thought I'd dig out this post from last year...

Furnishings company, MacKenzie-Childs, loved in the U.S. for its whimsical and distinctive products, made its international debut at Harrods last month. The MacKenzie-Childs brand, which is bright, colorful and innovative, will be available on Harrods’ second level encompassing more than 500 square feet of shopping space. Harrods shoppers will be able to choose from a full range of hand-crafted ceramic and enamel tableware, furniture and home accessories. The company is revered for its artisan creativity and craftsmanship – from its signature line of black and white Courtly Check tableware to hand painted furniture pieces such as the Turtle Table and the Fish Chair (pictured below).

Located in upstate New York on a 65 acre former dairy farm overlooking Cayuga Lake, MacKenzie-Childs engages more than 100 artisans and production personnel at the company’s design and production studio. Inspired by the designs of the company’s creative director Rebecca Proctor, artisans create products that celebrate a tradition of American hand craftsmanship. I just love the individuality of the design and the 'Alice in Wonderland' feel of the products.
