IDEAS - Stair Storage

Many of us could do with just a bit more storage and sometimes the best places are not immediately obvious. If you have wooden stairs that are not carpeted, why not pop some drawers into the lower risers. It will take a decent carpenter to do it, I would not recommend getting the sledgehammer out yourself, but it can provide that handy space to put things in your hall.

One important point though, make sure you shut the drawers properly after use or you could end up in a heap at the bottom. Get inspired with the photos below...

Maximum use of the space is achieved by putting 2 drawers in each step. I am not too keen on the handles, but the wood that has been used is sleek and modern.

The actual stairs have not been used in this example, but every inch of the under stair area has. Drawers are in many ways more useful than a cupboard. It is far too easy to throw things into the back of a cupboard but these drawers enable some proper organisation.

An artist's take on the stair storage idea. If you have bold taste you could paint each drawer front on your stairs a different colour. It would certainly make a statement.

Don't forget the sides of the stairs if yours are not boxed in. You will be able to fit narrower, deeper drawers into this area.

TRENDS - Bright is Right

Photo Credit: Fixed Image on flickr.com

You may have noticed bright colours on the catwalk, but this is one trend that can be followed in the home too. Fake that summer feeling with vibrant hues and candy shades. Indoors or out, this trend will lift the mood of anyone who can see the burst of colour. See my ideas below for some inspiration...

PRODUCT OF THE WEEK - Rainbow in my Room

There is nothing prettier than a rainbow, and now you can project your own against a wall in your home. This is ideal for a child who needs a night light, keeping them mesmerized until they drift off to sleep. You needn't even worry about having to turn it off as it will shut off automatically after 10 minutes. Don't forget the batteries though as this is not mains operated.

MOST WANTED - Angel Wing Mirrors

What could be more heavenly than mirrors in the shape of angel wings. These are extremely girly and indulgent but oh so pretty. I will admit that they are not the most practical for checking your outfit, but who cares when they look this good.

MOST WANTED - Ikea Kvarno Sunbed

These sunbeds are perfect for the garden and although I may be a little optimistic in my summer preparation (it is only April after all) I just can't help but want them. The contemporary wood/metal finish is sleek and minimal and will give those neighbours green eyes. I am imagining a cocktail or two in summer sunshine, lounging and relaxing with a good book. With the way the weather has been the last couple of summers, that may well be just a dream, but they are so pretty I could be happy just admiring them. I think it is time for a trip to Ikea...
